Welcome to Middle Branch Furniture
Here you will find galleries of my past projects. I use a combination of modern and traditional techniques to build heirloom quality pieces out of the best Adirondack cabinet woods, such as hard maple, black cherry, red and white oak. All of these projects were fully custom. My main inspirations have been the clean lines of the arts and crafts movement, believing that expertly crafted exposed joinery and the finest figured hardwoods are the best form of decoration.
Some of the pictures here deviate from that ideal, which reflects my willingness to build whatever the client's taste calls for. Typically there are multiple phone calls and email exchanges in the beginning of the design process. This exchange works well, the client and I get a feel for the project,and each other. Sometimes the customer has just an idea and other times they are as concise as a photo, either way, there are many happy customers.
Many of my clients came to me after they looked at mass produced furniture , often to find that it was the wrong color or size, and built of wood byproducts. As quality hardwoods become more expensive, the factories are forced to use cheaper materials and construction techniques to meet certain price points.It is rare that this type of product lasts long enough to become an heirloom.
